Today I am going to present you a tutorial on modding java applications with your own s40 mobile. Many users request others to mod applications for them. What if you can mod them yourselves. There are two jar applications for this. The first one is class edithor and the second one is class translator.What a Class editor does is that it opens a file in text mode so that you could edit its text values as well as hexadecimal values.
Class translator allows you only to edit the text values of class files so that the risk of modifying the javastrings is less. But when I tried to mod using this application I was not able to open the class files. It did not work for me. The method of use is described below. Use it to see if it works for you. So in order to edit your application, you need to have your .jar application renamed to .zip format.For s40 phones,this could be done if you download any .jar file via UCWEB or if it is an attachment, it will be downloaded in .php or .ext extension. Simply rename the extension to .zip i.e in ucweb the extension _jar should be changed to .zip. If you have downloaded files directly in .jar format zip them using an application like blue ftp. For the time being lets say you want to mod opera mini.
1. Use BlueFTP, moby explorer or any other software extractor to extract all the class files of the zip renamed file.
2. The server of opera mini is present in a.class file(It is in au.class or aw.class or even ax.class for UCWEB depending on the version).For other applications its a tad bit difficult since you have to know that which file contains the server. But there's a simple shortcut to do this; open each class file with class editor and press 9. Search for the text http. Press # if you want to see the next search result. But note that the every file which contains http may not be a server. Look and decide that which one will be a server. Once you have decided upon the right class file open that class file with class editor or class translator. Class translator is preferred because it only displays text strings. If you open it via class editor press 9. You will get a search menu. Search until you get http://server4.operamini.com:80/.
4. Now edit the box as per your need. If you are an airtel or reliance customer then just before server4.operamini.com:80/ put 122.170.122.191. Thats it! You are almost done.
5. If you want to add backquery as in reliance press 5. Select text and add your trick, (?id=wap.mauj.com) . Finally save your file.
6. Next is on using class translator. When you open it see that all text strings are arranged in alphabetical order. Hence scroll down until you get the server and add your trick. Then save that file.
7. Be careful because if you do not operate correctly with class translator it leaves a .bak file with same name. If there's such a file, delete it.
8. Finally you are left with a folder containing class files along with a server modded class file. Select all of them and then compress it to zip format. S40 users need to continue by renaming the zipped file to first _jar and then quitting the app and going to the folder where its saved and renaming the file from _jar to .jar i.e Scroll to this file(opera mini) via your phone's gallery and select options, rename, and change from _jar to .jar . Note that s40 users could do this only by their phone's gallery. But other phone system users could rename .zip to .jar directly by blueftp .
9. Try running the application modded with your hands. If everything has been done fine then it will not show any errors.
