It was around this time that two years back I bought my nokia 5130 c2
at a price of 5000 rupees. Its this time of the year again and I get
nokia x2 at around the same price. Shell around 5000 bucks and lay
your hands on the new nokia blah blah blah but at the end java phone.
No multitasking, no hi fi super sexy games or high end graphics..
Nothing. But not anymore mts has just announced the launch of not one
but two android smart phones for a sum below 5000 rupees. Both the
handsets are based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon S1 processors and will be
available from September 1. The babies are christened as- MTS MTAG 3.1
and MTS Livewire, both in the sub Rs 5,000 category.
Running on CDMA EV-DO Rev A technology, MTS MTAG 3.1 and MTS Livewire
support high quality voice and net enabled data services. MTAG 3.1
comes with a 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen with a none too bad
240x320 pixels display. The phone supports multi-format audio/video
player with 3.5 mm jack, and is equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera
which is not too low for 5k set.
The phone also has the MTS TV application allowing its users on the go
access to Live TV and On demand video playback. MTS MTAG 3.1 provides
one touch built in access to Google Mail, YouTube, Google Talk and
Google Maps. One of the most powerful and outstanding features is the
search by your voice which enables you to just search the web with
your voice alone and no hard typing at all. Something like alladin's
magical genie. On the bright occasion Cui Liangjun, chief executive
officer, ZTE India said "We are committed to bring high end mobile
Internet experience to the masses. It is this belief that has got us
to partner with MTS India to launch MTS Livewire. This handset
provides a great customer experience including on the go access to
Live TV and on demand video playback."Both the mobiles are equipped
with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo OS and will be launched by september 1
this year. MTS mTag and MTS Livewire comes bundled a hell lot of
freebies such as free SMSs, free talktime and free data usages. This
additional offers put the value back on the money spent. Moreover the
Android market place provides access to over 200,000 applications for
free to these mobiles. Not much information has been revealed to the
media yet about the processing capabilities of these electronic
beauties but the fact remains that this is the cheapest android set
available and will be a tough challenger to both airtel's beetel
android phone and reliance's android set priced at 12k.
