tablet. Its not that, that I want you not to buy the Aakash Ubislate
tablet but I would definitely want you to understand what you are
supposed to be expecting from this tablet. All good things do not come
cheap and if someone is paying a fortune for ipad or iphone know that
the apples come with world class technology, flawless touchscreen,
retina resolution, freaky apps and lots more which can't be described
in words. Aakash has been garnering much lime light for the sole fact
that it comes pocket friendly with the government subsidized version
at just Rs 1750. The version for the public comes at Rs2500 while the
refined version with Gprs facility and much better processor comes at
Rs 2999 which will be launched by January end.
Now for the disadvantages of this tablet I have noticed many flaws
which should also come under your purview:
1. The touch screen is a sticky resistive one and you can't expect
much from it. It should be noted that the touch screen is the main
input interface and such a touch screen can prove pivotal to its
rejection by the public. Its cheap but if its not user friendly then
nobody is going to keep it. It has generated lot of interest worldwide
with articles and reviews popping up in international news agencies
like Reuters and the bbc. People would rather prefer a Nokia phone
with a keypad than an unusable Aakash.
2. Small processor:
The processor which is used in Aakash is a tinyone with only 336mhz capacity. Not only that whilst other tablets have
a RAM upto 1gb Aakash comes with a mere 256 mb RAM. Such a processor
may not be able to help you win the game when it comes to speedy
performance. You can altogether forget gaming on this phone and if
your passion is studying even then there are disadvantages. You are
touting it for students who like to access internet and study
material. Videos will not play fast enough, the internet speeds will not be as momentous as you think. For bloggers like us, though there's
an option of attaching a keyboard but that may be too inconvenient for
typing in our thoughts. The keyboard will be too small and I know it
by experience what it is like starting on a netbook. If you want to
experience what will it be like on a 'Aakash' you better borrow a
netbook and try starting it. I was extremely excited when I heard of
the launch of Aakash but when I thought of its pros and cons then
then it made me think twice on buying it. Plus the student version
doesn't come with gprs, but only with wi fi. Now which all villagers
have access to wi fi. Even students studying in good colleges may not
have proper wi fi access. Secondly as a blogger who has many tricks
for free gprs under his hat is really worried that the tab comes pre
packed with a Rs 98/2 gb plan which is by far very discouraging.I
don't think that I may put my handler tricks on SIM Cards which don't
belong either to Airtel nor Reliance.
3. Availability
:Seeing the fuss around Aakash tablet from many monthsand seeing that from the last few days the word Aakash has been doing
the rounds as the top most searched item all over India I felt two
things. One that I should write a post on it and second that the
production is around 10k per month and the pre orders and booking in
lakhs. Today I read the news that aakash tablets have been sold out. How on earth am I going to get it?
There's very low probability that this thing is ever going to be in
hands and why My hands, what about the hundreds of people drooling
comments on whichever site available to them saying that somehow that
want to lay hands on this angelic key to all their problems. The
demand is always going to be more than the supply. There will be
thousands nay lakhs who would finish all their education before ever
getting anything near it. Recently I read an article on forbes which
was on " What I'd do if I was a poor black kid?". The author suggested
nothing save technology to save the poor black kids. There will be
thousands nay lakhs who would finish all their education before ever
getting anything near it. Recently I read an article on forbes which
was on " What I'd do if I was a poor black kid?". The author suggested
nothing save technology to save the poor black kids. This same
technology is what I am talking about. This is the one which is it.
Technology so cheap that people can not only dream but make dreams
reality. But the sheer number of technical impossibilities lining the
way are revolting me. Once again India remains cheated and hopes which
are false are purporting the sky. Yes the sky- Aakash.
