Internet is fun

There could be no better example to this statement than me. My first
rendezevous with internet was when I was in class 3 or something. It
was in my home in kerala. After that I couldn't get much of it because
my father was posted in the remote state of northeast, the land of the
rising sun Arunachal Pradesh. Though this was the place of heavenly
beauty, connectivity and electricity remained a major issue throughout
my life there. Later I did get to use internet on pc but it was quite
limited. Only when I completed 10th did I get a full fledged internet
experience and that too on a mobile. It was the era of 2G Auctions and
airtel had captured the seven sisters.
Boy it was fun. The very first time I keyed in www.google.com and
waited as the world's biggest search engine giant opened was magical.
I was astounded with the simple interface, the rainbowy Google and a
small space for typing in your search query. The whole space was white
except the google rainbow. Though the initial rates were a bit high I
enjoyed this new found freedom, where I need not depend on electricity
or or wiring in the telephone cable in my friend's house and wait as
the tortoise like dial up connection finally poured in some bytes.
Everything happened in a jiffy. The internet on mobile helped me
download sample papers for exams. They were all in pdf but there was a
site where you just key in the address of the webpage with the pdf
file and lo you have the content in html form. I scored 97 in Biology
just because of the previous year questions I had practiced. Internet
was a boon, a blessing in a place where sample papers were scarcely
available The rest of the time was spent in downloading games from
various game sites. I remember having played over 2000 different
games. I tried them all. I never had to pay a penny for them other
than the data charges.

Social networking shortened distances

One of the biggest problems associated with the seven sisters is that
there are only a few institutes available in the region for higher
education. All of us had to follow that path of our seniors in going
out of the state and pursuing higher education. So we mourned and
debated much about the fact that we all would never meet again after
12th and all of us would be in different states. Well it turned out to
be partly true. All my friends are dispersed over the country, in
different states, studying different courses, doing different things.
But we are not aloof. 12th class was the time when I signed up for
facebook. Although such statements belong to pre historic times its
the truth. It later turned out to be a boon. We could message, see
each others photos, videos, and know what others are doing without
spending a dime. We celebrate each other's victories in passing exams
or successfully wooing a girl. We mourn our heavy syllabus and each
time we meet the nostaglia of shared beer and tours come up again and
again. We celebrate walking down the beach, watching the interminable
sea(there are only rivers in arunachal ) through the common bond that
facebook forged.

I came to twitter much later and I immensely enjoy the company of
elites without befriending. You can hear to all the conversations of
the wise, the popular, the seasoned politician, the emerging writer
and much more. Twitter opened many windows and was immensely helpful
and food for the brain. I still can't however figure out what to do
with google plus.

Downloading, downloading and more downloading:

Internet provided me
access to all the films in the world, all the videos and all the
games. Internet is about getting things free and its the people's sole
tool, to wield it as they want. It gives me much joy to enjoy and test
all the tools and softwares which it provides to make my life more
comfortable. Watching movies in the comfort of my own home, playing
the best games whether it be an illegally downloaded torrent or a
freebie internet gives me the choice to make a decision.
Blogging
When I joined college at that time I heard about blogging and
instantly got hooked to it. I started from Amitabh Bachan's blog at
big rock, slowly took to the tech arena and in no time my feed list
had 85+ websites. I devoured everything that came my way. I read e
books when I could and blogs when I wanted. Internet charges were
never that high for doing all this.
After that one day I myself endeavored into this field which so much
interested and enlightened me to share what I wanted to to the whole
world. Internet enabled to communicate my thoughts on anything across
nations, peoples and colors. All they needed was a unity of mind, to
search what I prophesied. One year into it and I still feel the same
excitement when I hit the publish button that I felt on may 2011 when
I hit the publish button the first time. Its a big joy to find others
reading what I write. My dream is to find someone reading my blog
while taking a ride on the bus.

Changed visions of the future:

Internet made me realise my own power
in making money online through various ventures whether it be
affiliate marketing or blogging or sponsored tweets. If you have
quality content traffic comes to you and so does money. Ideas are what
we need. An idea travelling from the dorm room of a Harvard student
has made its value close to 96 billion dollars. As Steve Jobs said we
need to find what we love and then never leave it. Internet has
changed my plans for the future by telling how much I could do with
its help.
